Campsite Unlock and Grind-Spot Use Without Wasting Trips

A campsite is not mandatory for your first hours, but it becomes one of those upgrades you miss the second it is gone. The win is simple: repair, buy supplies, use current camp services, and keep grinding instead of riding back to town. Unlock it once, learn the placement rules, and stop fighting the tent icon mid-session.

Unlock the Camping Tool once for the Family [1]

Reach level 50 or higher, open the Quest window, and find [ADV Support] Start of Camping under Suggested quests, or accept it through the Black Spirit. The chain grants the Camping Tool and the basic Old Moon camping components used for the system.

There is one season-style wrinkle worth knowing: a character that chose the Simplified questline cannot accept this campsite quest. It is a Family quest, so swap to another eligible character that did not choose Simplified and finish it there. Once completed, the tent icon appears beneath the level and health area for placing or locating the camp.

If the tent is red, fix the ground—not the client [1]

The campsite needs a Combat Zone with enough clear space. Large obstacles, roads, steep inclines, tiny ledges, and Safe Zones can block placement. Campsites also cannot be installed during Node or Conquest War, and a camp already placed in the affected area is removed when the war begins.

Move a short distance off the road, rotate toward flatter ground, and try again before relogging. Left-click the tent icon to place at your current position; right-click it to navigate to an already placed camp. Once it is down, interact with R to open its services. This little placement routine saves a surprising amount of tilt.

The grinding loop: repair, restock, rebuff [1]

The campsite earns its keep by removing town downtime. Use the anvil before durability becomes a forced exit, the shop before consumables hit zero, and the current camp-buff offerings when their cost and effect fit the session you are about to run. Do those checks before popping time-limited scrolls.

A clean rotation is: place the camp safely outside the pack path, repair, buy what you need, activate the chosen buff, then start the grind timer. When your inventory or durability approaches the cutoff, return during a natural rotation break. The campsite improves uptime; it does not make standing in a dangerous pull while browsing menus a good idea.

Know what the basic components actually do [1]

The official in-game Old Moon components split the system into a container for temporary field storage, an anvil for repair, and a shop for potions and camp services. Those basic components have durations, so an unlocked Camping Tool does not prove every service is currently active.

The official guide currently lists the container and shop as seven-day components and the crafted anvil as a 24-hour component. Treat those numbers as live-system facts, not forever facts: check the component tooltip before a long grind weekend. The premium Naphart tools do not expire and add direct Villa Buff access, but the free unlock still gives you the core campsite loop.

When a campsite purchase is actually worth it [1]

Do not buy convenience because somebody called it mandatory. Measure the trips it removes. If your current spot breaks gear, burns potions, or sits far enough from repair and vendors that each reset kills the session, the campsite has obvious value. If you are still questing beside towns, it can wait.

  • Count the minutes lost per repair or supply run at the spots you genuinely grind.
  • Check whether the free quest components cover your current needs before comparing premium extras.
  • Budget camp-buff cost against the length and goal of the session, not just the biggest-looking stat line.
  • Park the tent on safe flat ground outside your rotation so opening it does not feed you to the next pack.
  • Inspect component expiry before activating other time-limited buffs for a long session.

Patch-safe checks before following an old tent video [1][2]

Campsite shop contents and buff packages can change. The current official guide shows older separate buffs consolidated into [Blessing] Adventure's Boon, which is exactly why copying an old buff shopping list can waste silver or leave you hunting for a removed option.

This page was checked against the current official NA/EU PC campsite guide and reviewed through live patch 10514. Use the current shop panel and item tooltips for prices, durations, and effects at the moment you buy. The durable advice is the workflow—unlock, place, repair, restock, verify the current buff—not memorizing one patch's entire shop table.
