BDO Crystal Presets: Swap Safely, Extract Intact, and Handle Breaks

Open Inventory and Transfusion to manage your crystal pool and presets. Registering a crystal puts it into Crystal Inventory; assigning it to a preset builds a saved loadout. Neither step activates it by itself.

Think of Crystal Inventory as what you own and each preset as one setup built from that pool. Before registering an expensive crystal, learn the intact extraction flow so you know how to get the physical item back.

Give each preset a job: a PvE target, survivability test, or another supported activity. Filling the slots is not enough; press Apply and confirm which preset is active.

Keep one stable baseline before experimenting so you can judge a single crystal change. The official guide currently describes 50 initial Crystal Inventory slots and 5 presets, but expansion options and limits must be rechecked when this guide is reviewed.

To keep an intact registered crystal as an item, use a Blacksmith with a Crystal Extraction Tool or Black Spirit Essence. Remove or Trash is destructive; it is not a free unequip button.

This is the expensive mistake to avoid: extraction returns the item, while Remove or Trash does not. If you only want a different active build, edit or switch presets instead of destroying the registered crystal.

A crystal in the active preset can be affected by death-break rules, and a broken crystal is removed from Crystal Inventory. A crystal that is only registered or sitting in an inactive preset is not the active setup.

Before risky content, confirm the applied preset and decide whether each crystal's value fits the risk you are taking.

A broken crystal may be eligible for restoration, but current Family limits, history, and interface rules decide. Never assume every loss can be recovered or trust an old annual count.

Open restore history promptly and confirm the exact crystal and eligibility in the current interface. Restore is a recovery path—not permission to ignore the active preset before risky content.

Extra crystal slots can depend on specific progression or gear conditions. Current official coverage includes Awakening weapon reform with Heart of Karanda or Garmoth's Heart, an outfit socket created through Black Spirit's Claw for the middle slot, Land of the Morning Light Kkebiwater progression for lower slots, and Kharazad accessory sockets. Diagnose the exact locked position rather than applying one generic unlock answer to the whole layout, and recheck live requirements because this is a patch-sensitive part of the system.

Run this preflight before registering, extracting, or risking a high-value setup.

• Confirm the crystal is in Crystal Inventory and identify every preset that uses it.
• Confirm which preset is currently applied to the character.
• Use Blacksmith extraction with the required tool when the crystal must survive.
• Read destructive removal confirmations instead of treating them as unequip actions.
• Check the current restoration limits before assuming a broken crystal is recoverable.
• Match a locked slot to its specific unlock source and the current live patch.
